Always Sunny: McElhenney, Olson's 2023; Charlie Day's "Auld Lang Syne"

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney & Kaitlin Olson looked back on 2023 while Charlie Day performed "Auld Lang Syne."

It just didn't feel right ending the year without at least one final update on how things were going with FXX's Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson & Danny DeVito– starring It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Of course, with the WGA & SAG-AFTRA strikes over, the new year will find The Gang pretty busy with projects far beyond the doors of Paddy's. But before 2024 officially starts kicking our collective butts, we have a look at what McElhenney, Olson, and Day had to share on New Year's Day. For McElhenney & Olson, it's a look back at the personal & professional highlights from the past twelve months (from Wrexham to ABC's High Potential) – while Day tickles the ivories to celebrate the holiday.

"Aside from that slight allergic reaction to the nuts, 2023 was one of the best years of my life. Thank you to the people and places that made it possible. My life is full of love and joy because of you. ❤️ So excited for 2024. I'll stay away from the nuts," write McElhenney in his post – along with an impressive cross-section of his year.

"Grateful for a year of people who bring me joy and work that tries to spread it. Happy New Year, jabronis. ♥️" wrote Olson in the following post – also sharing a look back at a pretty amazing 2023:

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Random Season 17 Speculation

Never one not to celebrate a Philadelphia team's victories, McElhenney shared an image of Bryce Harper from the Philadelphia Phillies celebrating the team moving on to Major League Baseball's (MLB) National League Championship Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks back in October. Above the look at some bare-chested, champagne & sweat soaked celebrating, McElhenney wrote, "Ronald MacDonald looking at storylines for next season like," and ending the comment with a "thirst" emoji. Just to be clear? This could easily be a fun line from McElhenney, and we can all move along. Then again, it could also be a sign that Mac looking for a boyfriend will be a focus of Season 17. Again, we could be grasping at straws – but here's a look. And following that, we look back at who McElhenney believed would make an excellent boyfriend for Mac.

In the following puppy-fueled Buzzfeed Celeb interview from 2022, McElhenney and his Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Free Guy) answered questions while surrounded by the joy of puppies (who apparently had very full bladders). At one point, Reynolds is asked if he would ever appear on FXX's long-running (and record-setting) comedy. Saying he was "personally offended that I was never asked," Reynolds offered a "Hell, yes" and reminded McElhenney that they discussed him making a cameo in the past. Answering that "it can be arranged," McElhenney came up with what could be the best role possible: "Mac needs a boyfriend," before looking directly at Reynolds… with a "Great!" from Reynolds in response (beginning at 3:20 mark):
