Burn Notice Star Bruce Campbell Says "It's Time" to Bring Back Series

Burn Notice star Bruce Campbell believes "it's time" for Matt Nix's Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Sharon Gless, and Coby Bell-co-starring series to return - even as a film.

Running for seven seasons (from 2007 to 2013) and starring Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless, Coby Bell, Matt Nix's Burn Notice told the story of former spy Michael Westen (Donovan), forced to take work in Miami as an unlicensed private investigator after being cut off by his former spy agency. Combining a weekly procedural with the overarching mystery of who burned Michael and why, the series was known for its smart writing, strong ensemble cast, and layered characterization. But most of all, it was a lot of fun – with the series spinning off into novels, a digital comic, and the 2011 movie Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe – spotlighting Campbell's character. Now, eleven years after the series ended its run, is it the right time for the series to return? Campbell sure thinks so… and he makes an excellent point.

Once folks saw Netflix's success with Suits, the doors were thrown open to revivals or sequel series to still-popular shows. NBC ordered Suits: L.A. to series, a Monk television movie hit Peacock, work is underway on a possible White Collar return, a One Tree Hill sequel series was announced… and the list continues to grow. Speaking with ComicBook, Campbell (Hysteria) made the case for the spy series deserving at least a television movie return. "I want to bring back 'Burn Notice,'" Campbell shared. "It's time. There's a bunch of perps in the world – international perps that are scumbags all around the world that still have to be dealt with. None of our cast is dead, either in real life or their characters. So, you do a two-hour movie. I'm trying to lobby for these. They did it with 'Monk' – it came back with a little two-hour movie. People want a little taste of it. Get ready for a taste of 'Burn Notice."
