Don Mancini's 'Chucky' Heads to SYFY for TV Series Development
The War of two Chucky projects seems to be heating up, as SYFY has just picked up the development rights for a television series based on the murderous doll from franchise creator Don Mancini, who has been actively developing a series for some time.
This comes during a year when MGM, who hold the film rights, are gearing up a new Child's Play flick starring Aubrey Plaza.
Mancini, who will write and executive produce the series for SYFY, said:
"I've long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us. The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky's character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now."
That's sort of all we know about the project now, but we're expecting to hear more about it as the year progresses.
