Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Set to Fly This July: New Images, Overview & More
Dean Lorey and Katie Rich's Matt Oberg-starring Kite Man: Hell Yeah! arrives on July 18th, with the late Lance Reddick voicing Lex Luthor.
Last week, Max went live with a look at what's ahead for July – nothing surprising there. That's something that pretty much all of the streamers do as it gets closer to the end of the month. What we were surprised about was that it seemed to confirm that Dean Lorey & Katie Rich's Matt Oberg-starring "Harley Quinn" spinoff series Kite Man: Hell Yeah! would be hitting streaming screens on July 18th – though nothing was posted officially beyond the streamer. Well, that changed earlier today with the "What's New On Max This July," which confirmed that the 10-episode opening season would be arriving on that date – and we even got two images, a rundown of the cast (including the late Lance Reddick as Lex Luthor) and an official overview.
Joining Oberg are Stephanie Hsu as Golden Glider, James Adomian as Bane, Natasia Demetriou as Malice, Janelle James as Queen of Fables, Jonathan Banks as Noonan, Keith David as Darkseid, Michael Imperioli as Joe/Moe Dubelz, Rory Scovel as Gus the Goon, Lance Reddick as Lex Luthor, and Judith Light as "Helen Villigan." Here's a look at the second image that was released – followed by a look at the official series overview:
Kite Man and Golden Glider take their relationship to the next level by opening a bar in the shadow of Lex Luthor's Legion of Doom. Nobody said serving cold ones to the most dangerous rogues outside of Arkham Asylum would be easy, but sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and how to hide a body.
Executive producers are Dean Lorey, Justin Halpern, Patrick Shumacker, Kaley Cuoco, and Sam Register. Based on the characters from DC. Production companies, Delicious Non-Sequitur, Lorey Stories, and Yes, Norman Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation. With Lorey & Rich's animated series, viewers can expect vibes similar to the "Valentine'sDay," according Halpern. "'The Kite-Man' series is gonna hit some of the same vibes that the special does. It gets out there. It goes for it. They've done such a good job of making Kite Man and Golden Gliders lovable doofuses. Pat and I pitched 'Harley' as "It's 'Mary Tyler Moore' with a psycho killer at the front. But we've always talked about the 'The Kite Man' show as 'Cheers.' 'Cheers,' but for B-list supervillains."
