Marvel Entertainment, Dreamscape Media Team Up for Comics-Based Audiobooks
Some of Marvel's most popular comics are set to invade your earholes starting this September, with audiobook publisher Dreamscape Media and Marvel Entertainment teaming up to distribute several dozen of the company's titles as "read-to-me"-style audiobooks. Dreamscape Media's parent company Midwest Tapes will make the recordings available through Amazon, Audible, iBooks, Google, Overdrive and other audiobook platforms. Additionally, the titles will be added to free library lending app Hoopla.
"Marvel Entertainment has changed pop culture with its emphasis on character‐driven stories that bring out the superhero in all of us. We are proud to collaborate with Marvel Entertainment to give fans a new way to connect with their favorite superheroes."
– Tammy Faxel, Dreamscape Media
Listeners will have more than a few titles to choose from, including The Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimate X-Men, X-Men: Codename Wolverine, and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, with works coming from authors such as David Michelinie, Tony Isabella, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, and Peter David. Dreamscape Media is exclusively producing approximately 2 dozen titles, with another 20 titles yet to be widely distributed.
For those local libraries that are a part of Hoopla, the news is even better. Designed to both promote libraries and the reading experience, the media service will offer the audiobooks free of charge.
