Missy Peregrym, former star of Rookie Blue, has been cast as the lead of Dick Wolf's upcoming 13-episode series F.B.I. for CBS. The series focuses on the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. It's a co-production between Universal Television and CBS TV Studios. Wolf is best known for creating both the Law & Order and Chicago TV franchises, which are now a shared universe.

Peregrym will be the female lead, FBI Special Agent Maggie Bell. Maggie is from a multigenerational law enforcement family from the Midwest. She is described as having developed a sophisticated skill set: high emotional IQ, intellectual rigor, bracing candor and on the fast track to success. She is protective, engaging and committed to the people she works with. She brings with her a set of convictions and is trying hard not to let a recent personal tragedy derail her professionally or personally.

The pilot episode has been written by Craig Turk, who will also be the showrunner. The pilot will be directed by Niel Oplev and filmed during pilot season before filling the remaining 12 ordered episodes. Peregrym joins a cast that already includes Zeeko Zaki, Connie Nielsen, Jeremy Sisto, and Ebonée Noel.

Besides her times as Andy McNally on ABC's Rookie Blue, Peregrym has a recurring role as Scarlett Harker on Syfy's Van Helsing.
