Netflix Orders More Mike Flanagan Horror, Green Lights "Midnight Mass" to Series
Netflix sure seems to be happy to be in the Mike Flanagan horror business. After successfully collaborating on Gerald's Game and The Haunting of Hill House, they have now ordered another horror series from Flanagan and his producer Trevor Macy titled Midnight Mass. The show will run for seven episodes, and will focus on "an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest". Flanagan will direct and executive produce along with Macy. Also, just FYI- this show has nothing to do with the Vertigo comic series.
These two are on a roll, with the second season of The Haunting of Hill House on its way, The Haunting of Bly Manor. That is based on the Henry James book The Turn of the Screw. The duo also are responsible for Gerald's Game, Oculus, Hush, and Before I Wake. They also are behind the upcoming feature film Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining and based on the novel by Stephen King. Netflix signed them to a multi-year deal earlier in 2019. Personally, anytime we can get more from this duo, I will take it.
No casting or an idea of a premiere date have been offered as of yet, but when Netflix releases any info we will bring it to you.
