"Steven Universe Future" Asks the Question: Can Steven Be His Own Problem-Solver? [TEASER]
Greetings, gems, humans, and all manner of fans of Steven Universe between here and the Homeworld!
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But the show ended! We got five seasons and a movie. True, it could have been better, but that's just the way shows end!"
Well friend, have I got news for you.
Steven Universe has a new show in their universe thanks to Cartoon Network!
That's right – set presumably after all the events we've seen thus far, Steven Universe Future will be an epilogue of sorts, according to creator Rebecca Sugar – who made the announcement of the limited series during the Steven Universe panel at New York Comic Con (NYCC).
Give it a look yourself – can you spot any hidden clues about the series or characters?
After saving the universe, Steven is still at it, tying up every loose end. But as he runs out of other people's problems to solve, he'll finally have to face his own.
Will we finally get more of the amazing deep looks at character development and growth the series is so fantastic at? It seems like we will!
The title sequence was just released on Cartoon Network's Twitter – timed to coincide with the news from NYCC, of course.
In case you aren't familiar with the show, it centers around Steven, a kid who hangs out with humanoid gems (the Crystal Gems) – and together they sing, dance, and learn lessons about inclusion, life, and friendship.
Okay, so it's a super abbreviated overview there, but seriously – if you haven't watched it? Do yourself a favor and at least check out a season or two. And the film – heck, just watch it all! It's colorful and beautiful and surprisingly hard hitting for a children's cartoon show. But that's just how the creators and writers want it to be. And fans have fallen in love with the show's signature storytelling and central message.
Steven Universe Future is "coming soon" to Cartoon Network.
