Saga Co-Creator Brian K. Vaughan Signs 3-Year Overall Deal with Legendary Entertainment

Comic book creator and television/film writer Brian K. Vaughan is teaming with Legendary Entertainment, signing a three-year overall deal with the studio. Under the terms of the contract, Legendary will adapt several of Vaughan's creator-owned comics; and produce exclusive, original Vaughan-created projects developed for film and television across both traditional and non-traditional platforms.

A New York Times bestselling writer and co-creator of a number of critically-acclaimed comics and graphic novels,  Vaughan's work with artist Fiona Staples on their series Saga for Image Comics earned him a Hugo Award. Across his comic book creator, Vaughan has been honored with 14 Eisner Awards and 14 Harvey Awards for his work on books like Paper Girls with artist Cliff Chiang, Ex Machina with artist Tony Harris, Barrier with artist Marcos Martin, and We Stand on Guard with artist Steve Skroce.

On the television side, he serves as an executive producer of FX's drama pilot adaptaton of Y: The Last Man starring Diane Lane, and as an executive consultant of his comic book Runaways, currently in its second season at Hulu, with Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage adapting and Marvel producing. Vaughan also wrote for the hit series Lost; and developed Stephen King's Under for Dome for CBS, executive producing and co-showrunning its first season.

Legendary's film slate includes Godzilla vs. Kong and Dune, with Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the live-action Ryan Reynolds-starrer Detective Pikachu set to be released by Warner Bros. in May. On the television side, production is underway on a second season of Netflix's Lost in Space and the first season of a Pacific Rim anime series for the streaming service; as well as the first season of Carnival Row, a fantasy-drama starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne for Amazon.
