#JanetVanCrime
It began two days ago with this tweet, started by Amuly.
It was a reaction to the San Diego news that Ant Man would not feature Janet Van Dyne, but a new character and daughter of Hank Pym, Hope Pym played by Evangeline Lilly, as seen in A-Next, the daughter of Hank and Janet. (UPDATE: She is now officially Hope Van Dyne.)
But it seems to have grown since.
The lack of founding member, and namer, of The Avengers, Janet Van Dyne, scientist, socialite and superhero The Wasp, has a rather effective hashtag.
All it needed was a little help.
And then folk started to realise that it wasn't so much that Janet Van Dyne wouldn't be in the film. But that she would be killed off.
"My name is Dr. Henry Pym. I'm an entomologist. I'm also a physicist and I discovered in 1963, a way, a serum to reduce a human being to the size of ant maintaining the strength. Not only that, but I was able to find a way to communicate with the ants. But unfortunately during this process, a tragic personal accident happened with my wife, my daughter, Evangeline, Hope. So I've had to pass my powers and strengths onto a mentor." – Michael Douglas
Time for the hashtag to kick off a notch…
