When it was solicited the Joker variant cover to Batgirl #41 by Rafael Albuquerquecaused considerable fuss. Seen as the antithesis of the current take on the character, the creative team on the book appealed to DC to reverse their decision to use this cover and DC changed their mind. Though the publisher waited for some tweets by the artist regarding the issue on which use as a catalyst for the change.
But some fans wouldn't accept the policy change, running a #savethecover hashtag in vain.
Or possibly not.
Because currently on eBay, folk are selling mocked up versions of the cover for $12 which the reader can use to customise their own version of Batgirl #41 – or indeed any comic book – with a version of the cover.
