Remaking The Marvel Universe, Slice By Slice – And How Mister Fantastic Fits Into It All
New Avengers #17 may have nothing to do with Civil War II as its cover promises. But that's all for the good. In this case it's about what happened after Secret Wars.
And how exactly The Maker, the evil Ultimate Reed Richards survived, and survived in the malleable, sliced up version of the last eighteen months.
And it seems it was all a bit of fun by Molecule Man, Owen Reece, the man remaking the multiverse with the good Reed Richards.
So every universe has a piece of The Maker in it. Every universe is flawed, has evil, has chaos. Welcome to the very definition of the Marvel Universe, and the answer as to why Franklin and Reed Richards would make universes with, you know, cancer. And Thanos.

A flashback in All-New All-Different Avengers #15 to the early days of The Avengers gives a reference to social media, replacing Rick Jones' shortwave radio communication system. concreting the idea that the entire Marvel Universe is now post 9/11.
While in today's Marvel Previews, we see Avengers .1, also written by Mark Waid, making references to bandwidth.
Basically, the past is catching up with us. Marvel Previews also looks at Inhumans Vs X-Men #0 and the Beast's attempts to cure stuff eight months ago.
…clearly he failed. But we also know, from the ResurrXion future that somehow they succeed.
Also from the future… The Ultimates #12 in its final issue shows us that more cosmic war is to come… indeed, it is heralded!
