Bleeding Cool's Top 11 Hot Comics Artists Of March 2017
Remember when Wizard Magazine used to do these top ten lists every month? So do we. This list was put together after consultation with retailers, publishers and statistics regarding the demand for comic book creator's works… and placed into a mysterious algorithm.
And we added one more for luck.
1. Patrick Gleason. The man who has made Superman great again.
2. Greg Capullo. Coming off Reborn, with the big conclusion to come, he's setting up the summer Bat0-event with
3. Nicola Scott. The outpouring of grief when she left Wonder Woman after her contractually agreed run ended might just give Black Magick the boost it needs when she returns to it…
4. David Willis. With The Dumbing Of Age collection on Kickstarter, grabbing $40,000 in five days, this web comics creator has big fans with deep pockets.
5. Simon Bisley. Sometimes it just needs just one issue to remind everyone why you fell totally for an artist in the first place. And Harley's Little Black Book did just that.
6. Frank Miller. Same again with the success of Dark Knight III, and the tip-in comics seeing Frank drawing again. With more stage events and a greater activity in years, he still succeeds in pulling them in.
7. Christian Ward. Creating ridiculously beautiful work for ODY-C and Ultimates, people are left wondering how he can master shape and form and space – in so little time.
8. Charlie Adlard. Again, talking of which – two issues of Walking Dead in one month, while keeping on top on the Image Plus pages with his European projects on top, Adlard stays at the peak of his game with one of the longest stretches in comics, still selling at the top of the charts.
9. Rob Liefeld. Familiar face from Hottest Artists lists of yesteryear, the upcoming Deadpool graphic novel, the Youngblood relaunch and the continued success of Deadpool and now Cable have done much to keep him in the limelight.
10. Bill Sienkiewicz. A combination of the success of Legion, his work on DC Comics variant covers and his propensity to post the nastiest of anti-Trump political caricatures is garnering him a new appreciative audience ahead of his new book with Kelly Sue DeConnick.
11. Brian Stelfreeze. One of Marvel's more inventive creators, the success of Black Panther continues to keep his work in the public eye.
