Atria & Skybound Entertainment Launch New Book Imprint "Skybound Books"
Atria Books (owned by Simon & Schuster) has signed a new deal with Skybound Entertainment (founded by Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead) to create a new imprint called Skybound Books. The focus of the new imprint will center on fantasy, horror, and science fiction publications, aiming to release four to six books every calendar year.
The company will start off by looking for new titles to produce, while also incorporating IP's owned by Skybound to do spinoffs and new releases. The company has already snagged Michael Braff, formerly of Penguin Random House and Del Rey Books, to be the senior editor. As well as Sean Mackiewicz who has joined on as both Senior VP and Editor-In Chief of Skybound Entertainment.
There's currently no timetable set for releases or any announcements of upcoming titles at this time, but if their previous history is any indication, we'll probably be hearing news soon. Best bet is to expect something around the time of New York Comic Con. Considering all of the potential titles that Skybound has under their umbrella, what would you like to see the company publish under the new imprint? Leave us your thoughts below!
