Lucasfilm Milking It For All It's Worth: Rumors Of Jabba And Boba Fett Spinoffs

We found out yesterday that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is likely in the works at Lucasfilm. This isn't that surprising, considering that this has been a rumor for years. As more and more people began to pick up on the story, more rumors started to drop. This time the rumor comes from Variety:

"Some of the other standalones in development include a Jabba the Hutt story and a Boba Fett movie."

Lucasfilm Milking It For All It's Worth: Rumors Of Jabba And Boba Fett Spinoffs

Really Lucasfilm? Just really? The universe of Star Wars is exactly that — a universe — and there are so many characters out there that have untold stories. We don't need to keep coming back to the same people over and over again. Why do we need to know anything about Jabba? Does anyone care, aside from Diego Luna? These characters only get less interesting the more we learn about them. We don't need to know every little thing that they do. We have imaginations of our own, and that's plenty.

At the moment, Lucasfilm and Disney are trying to justify making an entire movie based on the history of Han Solo, and it's been a troubled production thus far. Rogue One also had its fair share of problems as well so they don't have the best track record for their spinoff movies yet. These just seem like the safe, boring options. It's Star Wars; people will show up, take some chances. This entire series was born from someone taking a chance. You have the backing of the All-Powerful Disney Company. Take some more chances.
