Go Behind-The-Scenes Of The Beach Battle In Wonder Woman
There were a lot of great moments in Wonder Woman but aside from the now infamous No Man's Land scene the other one was the beach battle against the invading German forces. We got to see the Amazons using those amazing fighting skills we only saw a little of before that moment. Entertainment Weekly got a hold of one of the behind-the-scenes videos from the Blu-ray release that talks about the battle and what it means for Diana.
"The beach battle was defined by one thing, which is Diana's point of view," Jenkins explains. "She has grown up with this idyllic, romantic idea of these Amazons all around her and battle and training. And she wants to be one of them. She's seen them train in a very fair and organized way, where they all fight, and there are rules."
Diana has idolized fighting and being a warrior without any clear concept of what that really means in the end. The beach battle changes that for her.
"So this battle, what was fascinating to me [is] it's the first time Diana sees her own people turn and this other side of them, which is brutal and capable and willing to wage a battle," Jenkins continues. "And she sees the brutality of man."
The moment she sees the Amazon shot and hanging from the rock wall Diana doesn't know how to react to it. She almost freezes on the spot but Diana is a warrior and she jumps into the fighting the minute she can.
