The Lesson Of Metal From DC Comics Today – Don't Marry A Superhero If You Want To Stay Remotely Human (SPOILERS)

Two Metal spinoffs today, Batman: The Devastator #1, featuring the Supermanned Batman from a dark dimension, with a Bruce Wayne who became Doomsday and developed a serious case of Kryptonite halitosis…

And Justice League #33 which gives you a proper Batman/Wonder Woman meeting via Liam Sharp, artist on the teased-but-not-yet-announced Batman/Wonder Woman. Or Wonder Woman/Batman.

And the Destroyer Bruce Wayne who still yearns for what was his, while looking like another of Judge Death's Dark Judges, specifically Judge Fear. Man, that series has come really close with that swipe file, hasn't it?

And its all about transformation of the wives of our superheroes. Not so much fridging as them, as turning them into fridges. So Lois Lane, while protecting her son Jonathan Kent, and initially benefitting from being around Superman so long…

…eventually gets that sweet, sweet Doomsday infection, turning her into a Doomsday along with much of Metropolis…

And Mera, wife and consort of Aquaman gets a little genetic boosting from The Drowned, Bryce Wayne who has already made herself able to live underwater, and just can't keep her hands out of other people's genes….

And ends up creating an incident of domestic abuse along the way. Come on Arthur, you saw what happened with Hank Pyn over in Avengers, he never got over then and ended up bonded to Ultron! Is that what you want? Cos that's what'll happen.

If you want you superhero wives less transformed, on the right side with a little more agency, you may have to pick up today's Superman with Lois Lane picking up on her old General Dad's skill set….

Fighting for second amendment as well as first amendment rights!

And if you just want some good old fashioned geek reference, Justice League has your back…. is that Jay Garrick's oversized helmet masquerading as one of the Red Death's Flashmobile? This is Metal isn't it? From the DiDio/Snyder axis, not DC Rebirth and the return of the JSA from Geoff Johns…? Crazy. Metal crazy.
