Robert Venditti to Write New Hawkman Monthly Comic?

The current Metal event has reinvented and reintegrated the various incarnations of Hawkman over the decades, including the shared history with Sandman, and given us Carter Hall as an ancient Hawk God. We even got a Metal one-shot spinoff called Hawkman Found by Jeff Lemire, Bryan Hitch and Kevin Nowlan.

But what to follow Metal?

Bleeding Cool mentioned talk of a monthly Hawkman comic book from DC Comics this summer.

The latest word is that it will be written by Robert Venditti.

Employee of Top Shelf Comics, and creator of their The Surrogates comic book series, later adapted as a movie starring Bruce Willis, Venditti relaunched the X-O Manowar series for Valiant Entertainment, and worked for DC Comics on Demon Knights, The Flash, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps in June 2013 and is currently writing Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps and Damage.

Could his career be about to take flight again?

Because, you know, wings and stuff. Oh, please yourself.

Hawkman Found #1 variant cover by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair

It's a rumour for now. Let's see what ECCC this coming weekend brings to the party.
