ComicsPRO Attendance Hit By Snow
Yesterday, Diamond Comic Distributors had to close due to weather issues, as a winter storm warning was in effect for parts of Maryland as a storm that moved across the state brought snow, sleet and rain.
As a result, a number of Diamond representatives who would have been attending ComicsPRO, the comics retailer advocacy event being held in Charlotte, North Carolina, didn't make it in. But Diamond VP – Retailer Sales, Chris Powell did. And it's his birthday today as well. Good on you, Chris.
There will be eyes and ears today for DC Comics and Marvel Comics' retailer presentations this morning, certainly, those who make it. There have been cancelled fights, and people scrambling for alternatives. But for those who do, Bob Wayne's Keynote speech tomorrow is certain to be a highlight.
But there is also a lot of attention directed towards Fridays' State Of The Industry discussion. ComicsPRO will be having three prominent retailers get up and start the discussion – Brian Hibbs of Comix Experience in San Francisco, Phil Boyle of Coliseum of Comics chain in the south-east of the USA, and Joe Field of Flying Colors of California. And then other retailers and publishers can get up and speak.
I wonder what they will say? Joe certainly seems to have made it in, in real comfort.
Diamond appears to have been delaying certain May 2019 solicitations and the industry market share statistics for January. I wonder what secrets they hide?
