ComiXology Bestseller List, 26th April 2019 – Heroes In Crisis Tops The Chart

I've made it! A week in the bunker and I have successfully avoided Avengers: Endgame spoilers. Granted, I ran out of beef jerky and fruit pies two days ago, but it will all be worth it. So while I make myself halfway presentable while I wait for my Uber, let me recap this sales chart, if I don't pass out first.

After a subpar showing last week that exposed their lack of depth, DC bounced back to win the Top 10 easily, with the score:

• DC: 33
• Marvel: 15
• Image: 7

But all is not calm in the DC Universe. Because reaction to Heroes in Crisis is contentious, to say the least. Every comic forum and site I visit, fans are voicing their displeasure at a level not seen since Cap uttered "Hail Hydra". It's so bad Tom King is getting death threats (which is not cool, people. Seriously, just rethink your life if you want to threaten someone over a comic book).

And this latest issue, oh boy. This reaction is worse than if DC rebooted their universe with all women and set every storyline on a casino planet.

And yet, Heroes in Crisis landed at No. 1 once again, beating Action Comics and Detective Comics. What's the deal? Does the feedback only represent a small but loud minority, or are readers too far into the story to quit now, despite their personal feelings? Maybe readers have no choice, because unlike Marvel, DC events actually have consequences. (I kid, I kid)

I'm sure the comment section will let me know soon enough. But no matter the reason, Tom King remains DC's MVP, delivering the company's third No. 1 in a row. You can't argue with results.

-And before I wrap things up, let's give a quick shout out to The Wicked + The Divine. With only a few issues left, it's been climbing up the sales chart, this time beating Marvel's best titles. It's had a hell of a run, ending up as Image's best selling digital title not named Walking Dead or Saga. Thankfully for Image, Kieron Gillian has already whipped up another hit: Die cracked the Top 10 in its third issue.
