"Krypton" S02, Ep03: "Will to Power"
"Will to Power" opens on Planet Colu, where Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) and Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) are on the run from Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan), who is hunting them down to get some revenge on Brainiac (Blake Ritson). Brainiac has managed to entrench itself within Seg's body, so now, Lobo has every intent of killing Seg, too.
Seg's willpower is really strong, and that is allowing him to push back against Brainiac's hostile takeover. Krypton's take on Brainiac is fantastically creepy, with some amazing make-up working and acting from Ritson. Brainiac is one of those characters that has to be played pretty subtly to work, and it works really well here.
Nyssa Vex (Wallis Day) has fed false intel to the rebels on Wegthor at Zod's behest, and the moment of attack grows closer with an impending solar flair. Jax (Hannah Waddingham) has grown suspicious of Nyssa, and is starting to suspect that the timing of the intel Nyssa gave them was suspect.
Lyta Zod (Georgina Campbell), future mother of General Zod (Colin Salmon), wants to end the rebellion on Wegthor, and hopes to do so without losing more Kryptonian lives. Zod is leary of this plan, since letting his future mother get in harm's way could stop him from being born in the first place.
Seg has a plan to set himself free from Brainiac, and hopes to leave the weakened man-machine behind for Lobo to take care of. The problem, though, is that Brainiac can see Seg's memories, and is slowly taking hold of his body. Never fear, though- Lobo shows up to really throw a spanner in the works.
Krypton pulls a really fun regeneration gag involving a severed limb, and once again, XXXX's Lobo steals the show, especially with that fight with Adam Strange. You'll just have to see it to believe it.
Best line: "I undeaded you!"
The resistance forces on Wegthor look like they're about to get dealt a world of hurt, and Nyssa is right in the thick of it. Has she really betrayed everyone? Will she have a ton of blood on her hands later?
On Wednesday, July 3rd SYFY will present "Danger Close", the next episode of Krypton! While we wait, here's some behind the scenes stuff from "Will to Power":
