A New Theory of Mutation For the Marvel Universe

Yesterday's Astonishing X-Men #13 by Matthew Rosenberg and Greg Land kicked off a new arc of the series. And as Havok deals with trademark issues regarding setting up his own X-Men team, we also got a lecture from Dr Hank McCoy, the Beast, now operating at Harvard.

A New Theory of Mutation For the Marvel Universe

Mutation in the Marvel Universe being bacteria based? Mutantism in the X-Men comics has been used as an allegory for race, gender and sexual orientation politics in America. Because baby, they were born this way.

Now they seem to suggest that it might… catching? Within or without of the womb?

It's a throwaway in the issue. But Matthew Rosenberg isn't going to drop such a reference early on without following up on the implications… and there are analogies that could be made there as well.

Is Hank McCoy about to be deplatformed?

A NEW ERA BEGINS NOW!
The Reavers are back, and they have a new weapon that only Havok knows about. It's going to take a ragtag group of X-Men to save a world that hates and fears them! But after his villainous turn, can any of the X-Men really trust him? Can he blame them? Havok! Beast! Dazzler! Warpath! Colossus! It's an all-new, all different kind of X-Men story from the minds of Matthew Rosenberg (PUNISHER) and Greg Land (INCREDIBLE HULK)!
