Action Comics #1023 Bring Black Label Into Continuity (Spoilers)
In today's Action Comics #1023 from Brian Michael Bendis, John Romita and Klaus Janson we see Marisol Leone, head of the Invisible Mafia that runs Metropolis' organised crime networks and owner of the Daily Planet (until Jimmy Olsen #12 joins in with the continuity). But it seems that Superman has a bit of an issue with Black Label – no not the DC Comics mature readers not-an-imprint-but-suitable-reading-age-signifier Black Label. And in Metropolis, it's a name for one of Leone's clubs.
The kind of place all the big dicks hang out. And a place where one can do the kind of drugs that you see in Batman: Damned but not elsewhere. Full of all sorts of naughtiness and ripe for Superman to check out.
But now that Black Label is a part of DC Comics ongoing superhero continent, what does Superman and his Superfamily do as a threat to Leone and The Red Cloud?
The shrink it, like Kandor's Bottle City. Hang on, we've come across that before recently, haven't we? A Bleeding Cool report that looked at how the newly reworked version of 5G will see Metropolis become a bottle city, and the remaining planned stories of 5G still allowed to happen, will take place in that instead… giving us a Bottle 5G. So could a 'bottle Black Label Club' be the start of Superman's journey into putting everything into a bottle?
