All Ultimate Marvel Comics To Get Digital Download Code Included
For the last few years, the Ultimate Comics line – initially a line that cost less than the standard Marvel comics line – cost more, the $3.99 price point. And it's been quite a point of contention, especially after Brian Bendis assured readers it wouldn't happen with a previous Ultimate Spider-Man relaunch… and it did.
The Ultimate books were also the first Marvel titles to go day-and-date digital, starting with Ultimate Thor #1.
And now, after trialling on Avenging Spider-Man, the Ultimate Comics line will include the digital code as standard inside every $3.99 comic, beginning with Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #6, Ultimate Comics X-Men #7, and Ultimate Comics Ultimates #7, all polybagged to protect the code.
Comics Alliance reports the news with an official announcement courtesy of two of Marvel's executives, where they talk about the ins and outs of the programme.
One thing that isn't addressed was one strange quirk with the first Avenging Spider-Man #1 digital download code. No, not that Brits had to wait till their afternoon to use the code (That will change with Avenging Spider-Man #2). But that you can read the digital download codes through some of the backs of the comic in question, without buying it or opening the bag. Marvel seems to have tried to address this issue, by sticking pieces of coloured paper in later issues in the comic's print run to make it not as apparent, but I would expect a less fiddly solution for subsequent issues.
