Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 22nd November 2015 – Vader Up
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
Star Wars takes the one, two, with Vader Down. But long awaited Batman Europa proves it was not forgotten with a Jim Lee boost and beats the relaunch of The Mighty Thor. And it's Harley Quinn's presence that lifts both her title and Suicide Squad onto the chart as well- though not quite as high as Mark Millar and Rafael Albuquerque's launch of the Man Of Steel than never was, Huck.
- 1. Star Wars: Vader Down #1
- 2. Star Wars #12
- 3. Batman Europa #1
- 4. Mighty Thor #1
- 5. Deadpool #2
- 6. Extraordinary X-Men #2
- 7. Huck #1
- 8. Uncanny Inhumans #2
- 9. Harley Quinn #22
- 10. New Suicide Squad #14

Who had this to say
DC managed to get two Bat-books in the top ten, but otherwise their sales were dismal in our store. The only other DC book inour top twenty was Titans Hunt #2– "The Real Titans," as our DC fans refer to it. And now we find out that DC is taking one of their few non-Batman sellers, Justice League of America, and publishing a useless out-of-continuity Martian Manhunter tie-in in the next issue. Way to go, DC–take a good 60 copy an issue seller and replace the story that readers enjoy with a tie-in linked to a 12 copy an issue seller! Does Warner really enjoy this level of failure?….
Continued interest in Preacher and Lucifer… Wonder why?Poor DC…it seems like the wait for Batman Europa didn't generate in very many sales. As the only DC title to hit our top ten, it only sold in the mid range (though I expect that to change next week with DK3 hitting). Biggest surprise here was how well Huck did. I was expecting pretty good numbers since Millar always does well for us, but for it to come in right under the two big Star Wars books is very impressive. Same goes for seeing 3 other Image titles in the Top Ten. I won't be surprised if they start outselling DC at this point.
Harley Quinn is still going strong. We're seeing a lot of demand for Rick and Morty and Invader Zim. They're the gift that keeps on giving. I've also had more customers buy Carnage #1 this week than last week. This book is really starting to turn into Marvel's sleeper hit of the All New All Different Relaunch.
Pretty Marvel top heavy this week!
Good week. Batman Europa with Jim Lee art really helps. Darth Vader's monthly series currently is very popular but Vader Down did not do as good as I thought it would. Maybe a lot of the Star Wars fans didn't make it in yet. I read it and really liked it. Marvel's re boot I mean re launch is all over the place. Ms Marvel and Spider Woman did terrible while Black Knight making the top ten was a pleasant surprise.
Back issues for Supergirl are still in demand since DC doesn't have a monthly title for her currently. I am assumming that will be the case for quite awhile.
It's all about Star Wars.Top two spots with a commanding lead. Batman Europa almost hit triple digits and the Mighty Thor was close in it's heals. Wrath of the Eternal Warrior would have done better, but they are back to the cheap paper and people will not pay for poor quality even if the the story is great….think Divinity quality paper for all your titles and watch your sales grow.
Justice League and Suicide Squad are the back-issue movers and JL 3000 #5 with the Harley appearance.
Our #1 selling book for this week was Monstress #1 with almost tripling the sales the first week it came out. Harley takes the #2 spot and Deadpool take the #3 position. Two long time Juggernauts that spit in the face of Star Wars titles and laugh the whole time. New Suicide Squad takes the #4 spot. Vader Down takes the 4th place and Star Wars comes in a sluggish #6. We have seen Star Wars sales drop big time. Not because of the the title, but the other Marvel #1's are wiping out everybody's budgets. Batman Europa #1 comes in 7th and hopefully issue #2 we see a bigger push on this title by DC. I hate fairyland drops big time taking #8th from its #1 showing and we were disappointed that it didn't have a bigger showing. Ms Marvel, Sam Wilson #2 round off 9th thru 10th spots. Great week for back issues and we continue to see Marvel sales plunder. Our biggest account, who has collected (every title) Marvel for 40+ years, dropped marvel all together from his pull box. DC comics and Indies are happy to fill the void.
