Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 30th August 2015 – We Can Never Go Home, Old Man
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
As Secret Wars and Star Wars dominate the charts, Bryan Hitch's Justice League Of America punches through, as the chart is also joined by Fight Club 2, Superman, Flash and, for the first time on this chart, We Can Never Go Home…
- 1. Old Man Logan #4
- 2. Justice League of America #3
- 3. Star Wars: Lando #3
- 4. Civil War #3
- 5. Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #4
- 6. Fight Club 2 #4
- 7. X-Men '92 #3
- 8. Superman #43
- 9. Flash #43
- 10. We Can Never Go Home #4
Thanks to the following retailers,

- Yesteryear Comics of San Diego, California
- Dr. No's Comics & Games Superstore of Marietta, Georgia
- Fat Jack's Comicrypt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Jesse James Comics of Glendale, Arizona
And this is what they had to say,
Marvel's big Secret Wars tie-ins dominated the top half of our Top Ten. Old Man Logan, Civil War, and even Deadpool's book are huge draws for customers, and they snap them up. But with these wrapping up I wonder how well Marvel sales will do, the longer Secret Wars stretches on…
DC took the middle to bottom of the sales. Seems like even Bryan Hitch's JLA isn't immune to the DC dip, as the sales for issue 3 are dramatically different from issues 1 and 2. We Can Never Go Home releasing new prints of the first 3 issues at once a few weeks ago has helped the book find a new audience, as it cracked the top ten, which is the first for any Black Mask Studios book here.
It was No Surprise when we opened up the boxes and saw the biggest order was Black Mask's "We can Never Go home" this week. It definitely wasnt a Surprise when We can never Go Home took the #1 spot this week in sales as well. Most stores across the nation are scratching their heads on this one. We are just selling them. Deadpool, Civil War, Logan, Spiderman, and X-men 92 take several spots as Lando Drops all the way to 8th. Fight Club takes the 3rd spot and Harley and Genesis take 4th and 5th. This week saw the change in Social Media as Dc Comics gets a Beating in the store and most fans concur with the recent post about Dc Comics and it status on the market. Civil War trades and Batman Killing Joke Trades are Gold and Suicide Squad starts getting a huge bump as teh movie approaches.
Lowest Wed/Thurs sales of the month this week. Nothing too exciting or anticipated. JLA took the #1 spot with Old Man Logan barely behind. Lando is doing well but below Star Wars and Darth Vader (Kanan sales are not worth mentioning.) Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars has been doing worlds better than any of his previous series. Not so much getting Deadpool fans out on Wednesday but getting customers who never picked up the regular series. Batgirl and Grayson are still going strong. Still get complaints about both books every time a new issue comes out. And those complainers keep buying them.
Dark Horse had two books in the top ten with Fight Club 2 and Hellboy in Hell. Fight Club especially has driven many noncomics readers into the store. Dark Horse would have had three titles on the list with BTVS but I left those numbers out due to Diamond shorting us our entire order last week. Had it been officially released this week it would have been #3 on our list.
Civil War tps! Old Man Logan tps! Superman: Red Son tps!
All kinds of Doctor Who back issues.Weird week for books with no clear break out for sales. Lando #3 was #1 but most of the other books were within 10 copies to take the top spot. Usually have a book that crushes the rest by at least 30-40 books. The biggest drop was on Harley Quinn which even with the Bombshell cover barely made the top 10.
Nothing really stood out on the back-issue market. Little bit of everything sold. I guess i will blame it on the heat since nothing else makes sense.
DC found a way to get five books into our top ten: release one top seller and four midlist titles on a week when Marvel does the exact same thing. The result is a five-five split between Marvel and DC… but the numbers aren't anything that either publisher should be proud of. This is a war of mediocrity, and the loser is the local comic shop
Not a bad week. No surprises. Which means the orders look good so far.
Harley Quinn is blazing hot for back issues. Aquaman back stack is looking pretty slim here now. Civil War the original limited series is hot thanks to a certain movie coming out next year.
