Warren Ellis Dinosaur Batman Story Removed From Death Metal

It was a surprising piece of news, that Warren Ellis was going to write a two-page story in the Death Metal spinoff comic book Dark Nights: Death Metal Legends of the Dark Knights. Even more so that it would be telling the origin of an evil Bruce Wayne Batman from a Dark Dimension, who had transplanted himself into the body of a robot Tyrannosaurus Rex and went by the name of B-Rex. On his blog, Warren stated;

Yes, there is an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex. This is a thing I discovered when I was asked to write a two-page short comic about an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex. This is lockdown psychosis in full effect. "Hey, Warren, Scott Snyder invented an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex. Can you do me a two-page origin story of The Evil Batman Who Is Also A T-Rex?" And I say yes. Obviously.

That was before certain allegations, as reported on Bleeding Cool last night, went global as many women spoke out about their treatment by Warren over the years. Just now, DC Comics has issued the following statement to comic book retailers.

The previously announced two-page story in Dark Nights: Death Metal Legends of the Dark Knights #1 by Warren Ellis and Jim Cheung will be replaced with a two-page story written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Jamal Igle.

UPDATE: Bleeding Cool has learned that the story was pulled at Warren Ellis' request. There is no update regarding any of Warren's other work at DC Comics. He currently writes The Batman's Grave drawn by Bryan Hitch, which recently saw the seventh of the twelve planned issues published, and Bleeding Cool had learned that there were bigger projects planned for later in the year. We note however that there is currently a 'TBD' date attached to the scheduled eighth issue, previously scheduled for July.
