Excelsior Comics of Greenville, Michigan Rises Like a Phoenix

Back in July last year, Excelsior Comics of Greenville, Michigan closed. They posted on Facebook:

With deep sadness, I must announce our attempts to secure a space for the future have failed so far. We find ourselves in a position where we must temporarily close our doors while we move the store from our current location. It is our goal to continue to search for an acceptable building, but doing so requires that we temporarily halt our brick and mortar services. All of our online services will continue as we search for a solution. We will do our best to contact everyone with pull lists, in-store credit, and pre-ordered items with our plans to resolve those issues in the short term.

Their rent was raised too high. It is not an uncommon story. They didn't even make it onto the 50 closed stores of 2017 list. But this month something quite unprecedented happened. Excelsior Comics bought the building they used to be in, and they're reopening this month.

The second best update! If you hadn't heard already, yesterday we finally closed on the building at 304 S Lafayette St (our old location) It was an extremely difficult process at times, but we finally made it. I really appreciate all the support from everyone during this process and the effort has paid off. I don't have any solid details about a moving day or an opening yet, but I am working hard on forming a plan. We have a lot of details to work though so please be patient with me just a little longer. I can hardly wait myself to get the doors open and see everyone regularly again. Stay tuned for the best update (The Grand Re-Opening) to come soon.

How about that? Oh, and if you are in the area on 21st April, they have Operation Put That Thing Back to take part in.

Okay Excelsior fans, it is the day we have been waiting for. We are going to move the store back into our very own place! We are looking to make three teams to transport things quickly and get it done. If you have access to a vehicle or trailer please send me a message. Pizza and pop when we are done. We will need all the help we can get so share this with all your friends!
