First Look at Steve McNiven's Interior Artwork for Return of Wolverine #1

At the X-Men panel at San Diego Comic-Con Sunday, the most-anticipated panel of the entire convention, Marvel revealed the first page of interior artwork for Return of Wolverine by superstar artist Steve McNiven. The series will bring the original Wolverine back from the dead in a milestone for comic book publishing where Marvel actually managed to publish four four-issue mini-series and two one shots that all essentially served as #0 issues to the actual Return of Wolverine mini-series.

Wolverine will be back, with a bonus: his claws heat up so that he can burn people while stabbing them. The new power was inspired, according to writer Charles Soule, by the Marvel vs. Capcom video game. The villain of the story will be a new character, Persephone.

Check out the art below, captured by Bleeding Cool Ace Reporter Marcos Salinas.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
