Harbinger Renegades Now Called Harbinger Renegade Going into Harbinger Wars 2

After issuing a teaser for a Harbinger Wars 2, Valiant has just revealed the first taste of what they have in store for their 2018 event at ComicBook.com…

First and foremost, November's Harbinger Renegades series is being officially retitled to Harbinger Renegade – a change that reflects the introduction of a new villain, former Harada protege Alexander Solomon, who precipitate the events of the forthcoming crossover.

Here's how Valiant CEO Dinesh Shamdasani describes the change:

"HARBINGER has always been a franchise defined as much by its villains as by its heroes, and HARBINGER RENEGADE is taking that original mission to a terrifying and captivating new place. As much as this story belongs to Kris, Pete, Faith, Torque and the rest of HARBINGER's beloved heroes, it will also be told in equal service to Alexander Solomon – a new counterpoint to the team's place in the Valiant Universe and an adversary that will utterly redefine their future. What happens in the opening issues of HARBINGER RENEGADE will shape the next two years and beyond of Valiant storytelling as the forces and fractures behind HARBINGER WARS II build toward an epic culmination unlike anything we've seen or attempted before."

The publisher promises that the events of the Harbinger Renegade series will lay the groundwork for their "biggest, most ambitious and most impactful comic book event to date," but has yet to reveal any further details for HARBINGER WARS 2 other than the 2018 release date.

However, the first four issues of the Harbinger Renegade series will also be directly tied to the events of the publisher's upcoming event with Harbinger Wars 2 #0. In a direct homage to the original Jim Shooter and David Lapham's original Harbinger #0, the book can only be obtained by redeeming four coupons included in the opening arc of Harbinger Renegade and mailing them away to Valiant directly.

That's sure to get some die-hard Valiant followers excited…

Still, 2018 is a long way away…and is Sony is reportedly moving quickly forward with their plans for a Harbinger feature film that will set up a Harbinger Wars big-screen crossover with Bloodshot.

Could this mean that the Harbinger feature film will also be arriving in theatres in 2018, just as the Harbinger Wars 2 comic hits shelves?

That sure would be timely, wouldn't it…?
