Hershey's Sends New DC Comics Chocolate Bars to Frontline Workers

DC Comics has licensed its characters for a new line of Hershey's chocolate bars. Hershey's PR department has also decided that, rather than pay for an extensive advertising campaign to launch the bars, instead they can put out a press release saying that they will be giving away the first batch to American healthcare and frontline workers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Because, given that COVID-19 has a greater mortality rate among the obese, best to keep them out of the hands of those who are just at home sitting on their sofa watching The Last Dance.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern will appear on the wrappers with their logos stamped on the chocolate in question. Sadly, the chocolate they will be getting is Hershey's chocolate, which is anything but super, but you can't have everything I suppose. Hershey's also owns the infinitely superior Cadbury's, but haven't messed with their Dairy Milk too much. But neither are a patch on the likes of Green & Blacks and Montezuma though. But of course, their chocolate doesn't have a BAM sound effect engraved into the chocolatey goodness.

Hershey's told the New York Daily News that "we are sending pallets of the new bars to various frontline heroes like hospitals, police stations, firehouses. We've focused on some of the areas hit the hardest by COVID-19 like New York, Louisiana, Philly and more." They highlighted Philadelphia's Temple University Hospital, as recently received a shipment. "About half the pallets have been delivered/shipped and we are waiting on address confirmation for the others but plan to deliver ASAP."

Not quite faster than a speeding bullet. The publicity, however, seems to have been delivered right on time – and it seems Bleeding Cool was as much a participant in that than anyone else. Now how many frontline workers will decide not to eat the bars and try and flip them on eBay to buy themselves some PPE instead?
