Kat Calamia Launches Bi Visibility Comic on Kickstarter

Kat Calamia should be able to get some good publicity for her new comic book Kickstarter, Bi Visibility: A Bisexual Comic Book Anthology. And not just because bisexuality is in the comic book air right now courtesy of the likes of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Dick Grayson's Robin, and maybe even Jonathan Kent's Superman, but Kat Calamia is also a comic book journalist, writing for DC Comics, IGN, Newsarama, GamesRadar, Fandom, and TV Guide, so she knows the right buttons to push. She is also a bisexual comic book writer for Like Father, Like Daughter, They Call Her…The Dancer, and queer romance Webtoon – Slice of Life.

Featuring 9 different stories from 20 creators, Bi Visibility explores bisexuality from various different perspectives with stories ranging from romance to high fantasy. And she is bringing plenty of her friends to the part. Here's a look at the stories contained within the ready-to-print Kickstarter. She's currently got her goal, with almost $14,000 in donations against a $10,000 target from 545 backers. Donation levels include $1 for 7 queer digital comics, $5 for the digital anthology and that bundle, and $15 for the anthology in print, as well as the digital versions. There are trading cards, variant covers, as well as Bi-Box bundles too.

What Pros and Critics Are Saying?

"BI VISIBILITY is a collection of stories I wish I had when I was young – a powerful work shining a light on the unique challenges of being bisexual, as well as any identity that doesn't fall along a binary. It's powerful and eye-opening, asking the very questions that I asked myself, and that were later used against me. I can't wait for everyone to see this, with its truth, with its celebration, and its power. Get into the stories within, feel these stories and the people that created them — we've been here all along!"  Steve Orlando (Wonder Woman, KILL A MAN, Martian Manhunter)

"Bi Visibility is a powerful and beautiful anthology, full of creators telling the diverse and wonderful stories of their own often overlooked and misunderstood sexuality. Every story sticks with you. It's the rare anthology that you'll want to read front to back."  Jeremy Whitley (Unstoppable Wasp, Princeless)
