Marilyn Moonlight is Her Own Origin in Superman #10 (Spoilers)
When Marilyn Moonlight, The Spirit Of Metropolis, first encountered Superman, she gave him a vision of an Old Western town.
Article Summary
- Superman #10 features Marilyn Moonlight in an Old West Metropolis.
- Marilyn's past is explored, revealing Metropolis is named after her.
- The issue connects Bibbo Bibbowski's ancestry to a saloon owner.
- Marilyn inspires her past self, creating a supernatural time loop.
During an attack by Parasite attack on Metropolis, Marilyn Moonlight, The Spirit Of Metropolis, encountered Superman, giving him a vision of an Old West town.
Thrown through time with Marilyn, they are now in that town, in Superman #10.
Which seems to add in a legacy for Metropolis' Bibbo Bibbowski, with an ancestor running the local saloon…
But we also get a history of Marilyn Moonlight, confirmation that she is from this time… and rather than being named after the city of Metropolis, the city of Metropolis is named after her. She should get together with Captain Blud over in Bludhaven sometime.
…before she was revived by Doctor Pharm and Mister Graft, in the present day, as a supernatural being. And it turns out the very town there are in, was the very town that Marilyn grew up in, right there and then.
The snake has eaten its own tale. Yes, that is a deliberate typo. You know, for a change.
Marilyn Moonlight inspires herself to become the Spirit Of Metropolis, whioch names the city she is later resurrected within, which sends her back in time to inspire herself. Time for a little Basil Exposition, right?
Let's just take Basil Exposition's advice and go with it, shall we? Or I'll be up all noght working out a family tree for Bibbo that goes back to Plymouth Rock and no one wants that, do they? Superman #10 by Joshua Williamson and Bruno Redondo is published today by DC Comics.
