The Week In Metal – Batman: The Red Death And Nightwing #29 – But Does Marvel Want In? (SPOILERS)

Marvel Comics may be ashamed of their current Secret Empire crossovers, but DC Comics are relishing in theirs. So much so that Marvel Comics seem to want in on the Metal moxy – watch out for Hulk and X-Men gold spoilers below too.

Oh and there is a free Red Death Metal badge/pin/button at participating comic stores. Metal's proposal has been to throw all sorts of madness at the wall, and then make it all stick using a dayglow adhesive aerosol.

The Matal crossovers are a little less so, trying to look at the underlying tragedies that lead in and out of the Metal madness. Red Death shows us the origin of the Dark Multiverse places that the Dark Knights come from and where Barbatos lives, reality where the wrong decisions were made and in this one , Batman tried to steal the Speed Force fro the Flash to go back in time to save his parents – and the world. First merging the two figures together and going on a Gotham rogue killing spree…

…and then tempted by The Batman Who Laughs.

…but it seems that the heroes the Dark Knights attack have a get out clause courtesy of Doctor Fate.

Could he be making his own collection to rival Mister Oz… of sorry, wrong book. I get confused sometimes. The Batman Who Laughs is all up in today's Nightwing, as part of the Gotham Resistence tie-ins.

While in Nightwing, he is dealing with a metallic cut that has been bleeding in visions from elsewhere.

And has now returned, along with the visions.

Metal has been a massive success for DC Comics… could Marvel learn some lessons? Or are they already? Today's X-Men Gold is giving us alien monster Nazis…

… while Mojo continues to break the fourth wall by announcing an actual crossover hat he is participating in.

…though has no one told him that Uncanny is no longer a thing? Unless you are an Avenger? And even then, not for long? While over in Totally Awesome Hulk, which has recently given us the Metal-like origin of a Wolverine Hulk mashup, Weapon H, goes one step further.

And has the Hulk almost commit lunacide.

Hulk, please. Don't break the moon… it would be metal, I know. But there are tides to consider.
