No Paris Comics Expo In 2015 Due To Reed Pop Scheduling
For the last few years, Paris Comics Expo has been held in November in the city. An attempt to recreate the kind of Comic Con experience more common in the USA.
You probably get the idea with that. Lots of media, comics guest from around the world, cosplay, comics and… stuff. Sadly there won't be one in 2015. And they appear to be blaming Reed Pop Expo, the people behind New York Comic Con and C2E2 for scheduling their first Paris Comic Con for the end of October.
Translating from the post on Facebook,
You can easily guess main reason for this decision : a competing show has decided to launch their event only a short month before ours. It's unthinkable for us to consider two viable shows in the same city only a few weeks apart. We have received a lot of messages telling us to keep our date but as a young and still economically fragile show, we couldn't survive the loss of visitors that would inevitably happen.
It doesn't mean the end of PCE though. We are keeping all our ideas and projects hot, and we'll keep you all posted as soon as we have more information.
Has Comic Con Wars gone international now? Lance Fensterman, Senior Vice President of Reed Expo told us,
Any date proximity to PCE was absolutely unintentional as we have much respect for that event and for all of the fans in general. The global con calendar is an increasingly crowded one and thus many, many factor go into selecting date including many of them that are out of our control such as venue availability. We try as hard as possible to never select dates that disrupt another event and regret if inadvertently that's happened in this case. In the future we'll be happy to better coordinate directly with the organizers if it will help keep a good balance to the schedule so we can all get to the work we love which is wowing fans with amazing shows…..
Looking forward to a greater level of communication before PCE 16….
