A Little Booth Wandering At San Diego Comic Con
Preview Night does make it easier to walk from place to place. But it still got crowded. Luckily I was able to talk t some fine people before it all got too manic.
One of the nice things about Comic Con is chatting in real life to people you have, until now, only tweeted to, or about. Such as David Hahn, of All Nighter, and catching up on his upcoming Marvel work on Herc.
Or Larry Marder, still creating one of the best comic books on the planet, Beanworld.
Jamal Igle, living in interesting times with a killer sketchbook to sell.
Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett, guests of San Diego Comic Con, have their new project to show, Frank Reade, based on a forgotten pulp action imperialist hero, using the same techniques they used on Boilerplate.
Jim McCann was up in the early hours this morning making buttons and badges to sell to promote Return Of The Dapper Man – and is nervously exited about his Eisner nomination tomorrow.
Carla Speed McNeil, one of my favourite comics artists, who is close to completing pencils on her Vertigo graphic novel, is ready to tell the big central story in Finder and is also planning a fantasy romance… with dragons.
Brian Haberlin had a rather sizeable graphic novel to show off… Anomaly. It's big enough to kill.
Dean Yeagle knows what his customers like…
Larry Young is pleased as punch with his First Comics position.
As is Jeff SMith with his Colour Bone One Volume hardcover slipcase collection…
… that looks a little like this.
Brian Pulido really makes you feel welcome.
While Avatar publisher and patron of this website lets us know how he's really feeling after lugging all these comics into the show.
First Second raise the bar wiuth a high shelf all around their booth.
It's Preview Night to there's very little cosplay. What there was found itself celebrated.
The Gutters crowd show how best to stuff a ballot.
The BLVD launch their Jonathan Ross comic (more on that later)
Jackie Estrada and Batton Lash, the first San Diego since their brush with national news condemnation, seem to have recovered well with a new Supernatural Law book on sale.
Richard Starkings showed us some of the scenes from the CBLDF Liberty comic featuring a very naked Elephantman drawn by Shaky Kane. Unmissable.
Red 5 appreciate the finer things in life and let us know it in their stance.
The Men Of Action… kinda stand around a bit.
A blue background proves successfully soothing.
And Anthony Winn tells us all what it's like to draw for Stan Lee today. Awesome, apparently.
