Can't Get Enough Roasted [Rocket] Raccoon: A Quick Review

By Abdulkareem Baba Aminu

Skottie Young, Jean-Francois Beaulieu and co. keep on dishing out what is by far the most fun comic book Marvel's putting out today. The usual top-notch storytelling continues the tale which has Rocket Raccoon chasing after a doppelganger that may or may not be real, all the while running from a legion of ex-girlfriends.

The cool stuff's all here in #4: Crazy sound effects, a Guardians of the Galaxy cameo and more (am I the only one who feels the image of Rocket flipping his teammates the birdie on page 19 would make for an awesome T-shirt?). On the downside, though, after the movie's tearful/drunken Rocket moment, a scene where our hero is emotional/tearful seems a bit…much. Man up, rodent!

Back to the story, the hired goons Rocket rolls with ditch him, leaving him at the mercy of doppelganger who, as it turns out, is _____ (even I can't, won't, spoil this one!) After that revelation, the ex-girlfriends from hell make an entrance and an all-out battle ensues. After the big fight – which needs to be seen to be believed – reaches a climax, a final panel reveal shows that the story is far from over, just like my love affair with this utterly enjoyable comicbook!
