Diamond Secret Shoppers Out In Force On Tuesday Nights

Diamond Secret Shoppers Out In Force On Tuesday NightsAs part of Diamond's commitment to delivering comics on Tuesday for sale on Wednesday, they are instigating a Secret Shopper programme to ensure retailers are sticking to their street date.

On Tuesday night, twenty minutes before closing, an elderly woman they hadn't seen before came into the Collectors Corner shop on Harford Rd in Baltimore, with a small list.

She wanted three comics, Spawn #200, Batman & Robin 19 and Amazing Spider-Man #651 for her son – all comics due for sale on Wednesday. The retailer told her that they weren't out until tomorrow. She asked if they had any out back, but was told that they could only be sold from 9am the next morning.

It turns out a number of other stores around the USA reportedly similar requests by new customers that didn't quite fit the usual demographic, mostly elderly women. Another shop in Baltimore, one in New York and another in San Diego. And all asking for the exact same three comics just before closing time.

Well, everyone seems to have passed this Secret Shopping test to date. Our only advice to whichever company is being used by Diamond to secret shop to ensure these street dates, is maybe they could use slovenly men in in their late thirties?

Just to maintain the illusion?
