Longbox To Go Public
Rantz Hoseley has announced that not only is a new version of Longbox, the much lauded comics reader-and-collector-and-social-networking software, to go live to Beta members this weekend but that shortly afterwards, the new Beta version will be available to everyone.
Over the last three months, the members of the Private Beta have pounded on the builds of LongBox Digital. They've given us unflinching analysis and critiques of not only issues such as bugs and hardware incompatibilities, but (more importantly) they've peeled back and flayed the User Interface and Experience, pointing out ways to make it better. (Or, in some cases, elements that just needed to be taken out behind the barn and given a good thrashing)
During that time, we've reviewed, revised, reworked, or completely replaced many elements of the client application. With other companies now being distinctly… influenced… by LongBox Digital, we've tightened up the dissemination of information, screenshots, and video. (Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and other companies are welcome to try and replicate what we were doing 6 months ago) Last week, we began feature lockdown.
Starting this weekend, the new version of LongBox Digital is being distributed to members of the Private Beta group. Shortly after, we'll be opening up the beta to the public.
As in everyone.
The Public Beta will be run in three phases that stress-test key feature sets, with one phase leading into the next. The public beta will be global, and upon completion, will lead into the "General Market Release". More information on specific dates, and the details of the features for each of the Beta Phases will be released over the next week, as well as announcements regarding promotions and events tied into the public beta.
We'd also like to note that, for those of you who went to the trouble and effort of acquiring an early Beta Access code at one of the conventions… hold on to it. While we've changed the nature of the beta, and are not limiting the number of participants, we have something special for those of you who believed in us from the beginning, and who went out of your way to get one of those early access codes.
Hang on tight folks, here we go…
Is that "imitation" a dig at Graphic/Ly's purchase of iFanboy? Could be…
