Star Wars #1 And Marvel Dominate Advance Reorders More Than Ever Before

Greetings from the coal face of the direct comics market. Where retailers try to increase their orders of certain comics ahead of sale. Where supply and demand and most accurately reflected, where you can see which books are hot, where new orders are coming in and how retailers are reacting to new, unanticipated desire!

This is a first. Star Wars #1, and its variety of covers, grab nine of the top ten, and twelve of the top twenty-five sots. Their perfect ten was marred only by Marvel's Ant-Man which, itself, grabs four slots. In all, Marvel have the top twenty completely to themselves, with only Batman Mad Love and Tooth & Claw stopping them from having the whole twenty-five. It's the most dominnt a publisher has ever been in the advance reorder stakes as retailers rush to up their orders to qualify for the rare variant covers so desired by Star War collectors, already pre-selling for hundreds of dolars on eBay.

Of course, this may alwao mean that if you wait a week to buy the first issue of the regular cover of the comic, you'll be able to get it for fifty cents as retailers seek to offload the large numbers they have had to order to qualify for the variants.

But while Star Wars dominates the Advance Reorders, it is The Walking Dead which does similar for books that have already been published., with thirteen of the top twenty-five Walking Dead books. Saga doesn't do badly either as Image gain sixteen slots to Marvel's three…

And for comics that have already been published.
