Top Things To Queue For At San Diego

When: Opening of Wednesday Preview Night

Why: The signed and numbered copies of the Surrogates Owners Manual, combining the first and second volumes of The Surrogates, soon to be a Bruce Willis-starring movie. The books will be distributed from no. 001 to 1000, starting with the first in the queue.

Where: Hall H

When: Thursday from 11am, then for the rest of the day. Hell, for the whole Con.

Why: If you want to watch exclusive footage and new trailers, many in 3D with previews, exclusive footage and new trailers for Alice In Wonderland, Tron, Astro Boy,  The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Avatar, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus and Kick-Ass with Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, James Cameron, Matthew Vaughn and many many more, and if you want front row seats, prepare to get there early. And bring personal toilet equipment with you. Bottle and funnels all round!

Where: Hall H

When: Saturday, 6.45pm

Why: Kevin talks. And curses. And swears. And makes strange armpit noises if he wants to. And everyone, yes, including you will lap it up. This is a guaranteed show to perk you up. And the queue will snake and snake and snake…

greenWhere: Graphitti Designs Booth

When: First Thing Each Day

Why: DC Direct figures of Hal Jordan as a Green, Yellow, Blue, Orange and Red Lantern, each figure on sale on a different day. The Green Lantern is at 3000 figures and conceivable might make it through to Thursday) but the rest are all 1500 limited editions. $20 each, with tickets to be eligible to buy one handed out twice each day. That's right, you're queuing for a ticket for the right to buy a doll in  a different colour to the one you bought yesterday. And you'll love it!

Where: Just follow the crowd.

When: Saturday, 10am

Why: Robert Kirkman, Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri, Jim Valentino will be in a row, signing their Image United comic book. It's the nineties again! And the queue will snake…

Where: Ballroom 20

When: Saturday 4pm

Why: Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku present the unseen-apart-from-in-Singapore-and-now-on-the-bittorrents missing episode of Dollhouse, "Epitaph One" before talking about season 2 and taking a big Q&A session. Followed by Joss talking about his new Dark Horse comics – expect not only Buffy but more on Sugarshock.

snoopWhere: The Peanuts Booth

When: Whenever you can.

Why: There's a bloody silver Snoopy as a spaceman figurine, limit of two per person per day. Yet there any many more than two hundred people who are willing to fork out dollars for this tat.

Where: Diamond Comics Booth

When: Immediately.

Why: Easy money. Sketch variant editions of Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men Utopia #1 and Dark X-Men: Beginnings #1 at $3.99. Who'll be the first to get theirs on eBay?

Where: Ballroom 20

When: 10am

Why: Doctor Whooooo…eeee….oooooh. David Tennant. Russell Davies. Euros Lyn. on stage. In America. This could well be the big one… and on such a quiet Sunday morning too. Although Torchwood/Being Human at 2..15pm may bring back a few stragglers…

Where: IDW Booth #1705

When: First thing

Why: A Locke & Key Ghost Key limited to 500, a new signed-and-numbered version of Star Trek: Countdown, a limited edition version of Darwyn Cooke's Parker: The Hunter... yes, there's lots to desire here. And going fast.

Where: Ballroom 20

When: Saturday 1pm

Why: It's the Futurama panel. Which, accorsing to the programme features not only Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, but voice actors  Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio and Maurice LaMarche. You know, the actors who have just been fired and their roles recast, due to budget problems for the new ComedyCentral series. Will this be hilarious? disgusting? Will voices and indeed voiceovers be raised? Will the audience rebel? Will Matt Groening be dragged down from his panel and made to answer for his crimes against voiceover pay scales?

When: All convention long
