Reggie Can't Catch a Break: Archie's Funhouse Comics Annual #24
What I love about the digest comics is how they still celebrate classic Archie. Dan Parent delights us again with more classic gags and feel good stories, which is always a welcome change in today's world. We open this book with "When In Rome" which centers around the gang. Betty calls Reggie out within the first few panels for not volunteering for the school's food drive this upcoming weekend, which causes Reggie to insist he'll be in Rome. Veronica naturally calls him out since her BS detector never fails her, and promises to keep tabs on Reggie via social media. Of course this plan blows up in Reggie's face, courtesy of Jughead.
The first few stories in this digest all seem to focus on something blowing up in Reggie's face, which is satisfying if he isn't your favorite character. However the digest does throw in a variety of stories with a variety of secondary characters as well. The stories range from the Silver Age through today, which adds some nice vintage flavor as well. While the digests wont replace the regular sized classic Archie comics, they are a good way to get your classic Archie fix.
