Nate Grey is a Master Retconner in Next Week's Age of X-Man: Marvelous X-Men #1

Ok, we all know that Nate Grey has created an entire alternate universe where the X-Men have achieved the dream of Charles Xavier, becoming respected leaders of society on Earth, and creating the Age of X-Man event featuring six mini-series sure to boost Marvel's sales the next few months along with X-Man's ego. To do that, he's had to make a lot of changes to the world in order to make this reality work.

In a preview of next week's Age of X-Man: Marvelous X-Men #1, we're subjected to a lot of waxing philosophical by the titular X-Man. But we also get to see some of the details he put into his fantasy world, such as these paintings on the wall of the X-Men's headquarters, showing classic versions of mutant teams…all with X-Man as a member.

Does this guy's ego know no bounds? We know Marvel Comics is a big fan of Mary Sues, with Wolverine being the biggest of all. But X-Man has taken the concept literally, inserting not a proxy but his actual self into all of these classic X-eras! Eat your heart out, Jason Aaron!

Age of X-Man: Marvelous X-Men #1 hits stores next Wednesday.
