Stargate Atlantis To Continue In Comic Form
For comic book fans, the world has become an interesting place where the heroes of our favorite series are now becoming the icons of television and film. But there is a second pipeline that feeds the other way, when beloved television series get cancelled too soon, the comic industry can step up and finish the story and give fans a satisfactory ending. We've seen it in with shows like Buffy, Angel, Battlestar Galactica, Six Million Dollar Man and more.
Now American Mythology Productions, a new comic company, is going to be doing Stargate Atlantis a continuation of the MGM TV series, the comics will continue events from the climactic end of the TV show. Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Ronon Dex, Teyla Emmagan, Dr. Rodney McKay, Richard Woolsey, Dr. Jennifer Keller and the series' many other familiar characters will be up against dangerous new foes who threaten everyone from the distant Pegasus galaxy to the Earth itself.
AMP launched a Kickstarter campaign to pay for the new series and have already reached their goal, but now they are working on the stretch goals include adding a "Previously on Stargate Atlantis" segment to the comic, additional pages of content, and increasing the issue size up to 40 pages.
The series is written by screenwriter Mark L. Haynes and frequent collaborator J.C. Vaughn, best known for more than two decades associated with The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. In comics the duo last teamed up on 24 for IDW Publishing. Interior art for the first arc is being handled by Greg LaRocque, who made his mark on a number of titles including Legion of Super-Heroes at DC and Web of Spider-Man at Marvel. Breathtaker, Mars and Blood of the Innocent co-creator Mark Wheatley is providing covers, along with LaRocque and others.
