Steve Orlando's Only Original Series in 2016 Hits FOC…

Steve Orlando got some major kudos from Dan DiDio at the DC Secret Origins Panel at New York Comic Con this weekend. After garnering critical praise for his original series from Image Comics – Virgil and Undertow – he's moved on to do the same at DC Comics with Midnighter. Nominated for a GLAAD Award and Advocate named him one of their "40 Under 40" this year. And that was all before he was named the writer on DC's upcoming Justice League of America relaunch as part of his new DC Comics exclusive.

What some may have missed is that Boom was able to snag Orlando's only (and presumably last) original project outside of DC for 2016 (and possibly longer). Namesake was announced ahead of San Diego Comic-Con this summer and seems to combine what Orlando is best known for – exploring LGBT issues and exciting violent action.

Here's the solicitation info:

Once every seven years, Earth overlaps with Ektae, a world where alchemy is not pseudo-science but the driving force of industry. For seven days, Ektae breaches our world, bringing dirty magic and ideas. Jordan Molossus was born of Earth and Ektae and abandoned by both, but when he receives two cast iron urns containing his estranged fathers' ashes, he'll leave everything behind to put his parents to rest before Ektae disappears for another seven years.

FOC is today. Oh and the book also has an artist. Jakub Rebelka, take a look.
