Thank FOC It's Friday – American Morning Glories
Welcome to Thank FOC It's Friday, a weekly mailing list, similar to The Daily LITG, but every Friday and planned to coincide and cover the demands of Final Order Cut Off. The date when retailers have a last chance to amend their advance orders for comic books without penalty.
A last chance for publishers to promote books while orders can still be added and a time for credits to be amended, new covers to be revealed and a final push given. This is an attempt to sift through them all and find the most relevant items.
You can sign up here or with the form at the bottom.
Now, many retailers will know all this, but some things may slip through even the most diligent retailer's attention. And if nothing else, it may be useful to try for a one-stop shop that may start some thoughts, even if it doesn't finish them.
This past week on Bleeding Cool, you may have seen:
- Is your store ready for all the Diamond Best Practice Awards for 2019?
- Comic store closures in Ohio and Kentucky – as one opens – but this Chicago shop will go for $25.
- Rod Lamberti of Rodman Comics runs through his planned April.
- Are you ordering enough Dynamite comic books?
- Rob Walton is looking for a publisher for Ragmop, splitting from Vault.
- Stores are getting a War Of The Realms free promotional magazine to distribute.
- More Marvel titles are late but they may have a solution for Iron Man.
- Second prints from Marvel, Image and a few from DC. Cancellations for Batgirl Of Burnsie Omnibus, Absolute Dark Knight and Jook Joint.
- Do you still have Lenore, The Cute Dead Girl fans?
- James Monroe Iglehart to write Spider-Man… any Hamilton fans want in on this?
- More evidence of the power of Artgerm and Chew on advance reorders.
- And a look at thirty Free Comic Book Day titles.
And here's what's FOC'ing happening this weekend:
- Ronin Island #1 is Boom! Guarantee'd for all registered retailers, and now includes an all-new, open-to-order, FOC Cover by Kris Anka.
- Dark Horse is launching Astro Hustle by Jai Nitz and Tom Reilly with an added discount for stores who order ten or more copies of the first issue. Same for the Frozen: Reunion Tour #1 comic.
- While their Black Hammer 45 #1 is fully returnable to any store that orders 15 copies or more.
- Batman #66 has Jorge Fornes draw his issue of Tom King's Knightmares.
- Green Arrow #50 is its final issue.
- OOOOH… It's FOC for Second Coming #1. With the outrage help or hinder?
- Marvel launches the latest of its Age Of X-Man series, Prisoner X, with a secret variant cove available to those who match orders with Uncanny X-Men #2.
- And there's the new not-Donny Cates thing, Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History by Paul Scheer, Nick Giovannetti and Gerardo Sandoval – and a 1:50 tiered cover.
- Domino Hotshots starts its new series with 1:25 and 1:50 tiered covers. Meet The Skrulls #1 launches with 1:10 and 1:50 variants. Darth Vader: Dark Visions #1 also launches with a 1:50 cover. As does Uncanny X-Men #13.
- Obey Me, based on the video game, launches from Dynamite with a #0 issue and a number of tiered variant covers. Six Million Dollar Man #1 does similar.
