The Crazy Gets Crazier In Clean Room #4

Writer Gail Simone has been pretty honest about the upcoming issues of Clean Room being scary, but I guess it's one thing to read statements like that, and another to experience it. After reading three issues of the gripping comic I was certainly hooked, but Clean Room #4 gave me chills, made my heart race, and brought about a few gasps. No, I'm not having a heart attack, the comic is just that good. Written by Simone, with art by Jon-Davis Hunt, the fourth issue continues the captivating story and we get to see a bit of the process Astrid went through when she was in the developing stages of her empire.

[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR CLEAN ROOM #4 BELOW!]

It's pretty clear that Astrid Mueller has a lot of evil in her, a crazy twisted personality that I still have yet to understand. She's been an intense character from the start, but a whole new layer of crazy was revealed during this issue. We get an example of the lengths she will go to, to get what she wants, and it's disturbing. I want to applaud David-Hunt for this panel because when I came across it, I felt like she was staring through my soul.

Another draw for me is Chloe. I continue to have sympathy for her character and am curious as to how things will work out. Her mission seems pretty hopeless, and now that she has a target on her back, things are sure to get even more complicated.

That's where I draw the line of spoiling things for this issue, but I'm going to give you a hint because I think it's important I talk about it. Since the first issue, we've seen these weird looming pink creepy creatures throughout Clean Room at random moments. Well, the time has come to learn a bit more about them. May I suggest plugging in an extra night light tonight? Be sure to pick up your copy of Clean Room #4 today.
