The Look Of Bishop – Via Busta Rhymes And Gary Coleman

Jason Liebig used to be a Marvel comic book editor. Until he pointed out to Marvel President Bill Jemas that actually, no, Star Wars didn't start small and go big as Bill said, it began with a massive space battle with one ship being blasted by an even bigger ship.

Oh dear.

He didn't last long.

But he does remember how we got the designs for Bishop that lead into the upcoming screen version in X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

…but Liebig has provided some more detail and images. Liebig writes,

Our mutants-as-magic fantasy book established the dreads and the cape 4 Bishop

Loved the designs Leinil created for us back then.

Suggesting Busta was an attempt to give Bishop a decidedly contemporary look.

Leinil's designs provided a great starting point for Georges Jeanty.

But we must thank Whilce Portacio and Gary Coleman for Bishop's inspired look…

Now that is a connection I've never drawn before…
