Today's Sex Criminals #17 Cosplays As Brubaker And Phillips' Criminal

As promised, today's issue of Sex Criminals is a Sex Police procedural from Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, but portrayed in the fashion of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Criminal series of comic books. With Criminal colourist Elizabeth Breitweiser helping with the tone…

They even got a Sean Phillips original to … um… "improve".

And handily, also out in the Criminalverse today is Phillips and Brubaker's Kill Or Be Killed #7, just for comparison's sake.

Or which Brubaker says in his irregular newsletter, £his is actually my favorite issue of the series so far".

The backmatter of Sex Criminals also reveals that Matt and Chip approached Todd McFarlane to draw their XXX variant cover for Sex Criminals #20, but he never got back to them.

Shame, Todd could have drawn himself cupping Jim Lee's testicles….
