Vlogging Saves Daily Planet in First Look at Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber's Jimmy Olsen
DC Comics has revealed a first look at the new series, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, debuting in July by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber. You heard about this new series, which spins out of May's Leviathan Rising one-shot, first here at Bleeding Cool. Pip pip. With the DC solicits neither officially out nor leaked by us yet, DC took to media partner The LA Times to share some details and art from the series, uncluding the cover to Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #1.
In the Times article, Fraction talks about what Jimmy is up to in the new series:
Jimmy's videos are basically the only thing keeping the lights on at the Planet anymore. They have to let him keep doing his thing because it's the only thing that pays the bills but it's [also] really expensive [because they keep having to rebuild Metropolis after any messes he causes].
Fraction also promised we'd get to see Superman hanging out with Jimmy in the series while he takes a road trip to vlog about various settings in the DCU. Also in the article, Lieber talked about the humor of the book:
I think there's a lot of storytelling power in the juxtaposition of the ordinary and the extraordinary, and Jimmy is all about that. [It's] a chance to be funny in the world full of much larger than life characters.
